Student Engagement
Hardin-Simmons strives to provide student involvement opportunities within a healthy and vibrant campus experience. This is accomplished by developing community-minded leaders and creating diverse and inclusive programming while helping students establish life-long relationships.
SABERS | SABERS is the oldest student activities board on the Hardin-Simmons campus. Established in 2008, SABERS became the face of Student Activities, spearheading many of HSU’s traditional and social events. Through their involvement in SABERS, students learn how to plan, advertise, and implement events for their fellow students. To become a SABER, you must have prior leadership experience through a student activities leadership group, and participate in our membership application and interview process. |
Alpha Iota Omega | Our purpose shall be to promote and develop Christian sisterhood, and to encourage and support HSU. |
Delta | The purpose of Delta Social Club shall be to cultivate an awareness of the need for finesse and refinement in every social situation; to make through social relationships a contribution to the spirit of the University and to promote school loyalty; as well as instilling a sense of leadership through participation in all activities of the organization. |
Kappa Phi Omega | Kappa Phi Omega is a men’s social club dedicated to providing a club for men from all walks of life to improve themselves and grow into the men God created them to be. |
Sigma Alpha | The purpose of our organization shall be to promote Christian fellowship and a close sisterhood among women with high moral standards. We will support all campus activities and show loyalty toward Hardin-Simmons University. |
Phi Phi Phi | “My Purpose is that they might be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches and complete understanding in order that they may know they mystery of God, namely Christ.” -Colossians 2:2 |
Zeta Omega Phi (ZOO) | The purpose of Zeta Omega Phi is to be a brotherhood bounded by faith. The goal of our Social Club is to provide a community of men at Hardin Simmons university and provide a safe space for the members to be who they want to be. |
Proven | To foster the success and development of the African American student population by creating a community that develops a cultural identity and encourages inclusion while upholding the Christian morals and policies of Hardin-Simmons University. |
Sangre | To foster the success and development of the Latin American student population by creating a community that develops a cultural identity and encourages inclusion while upholding the Christian morals and policies of Hardin-Simmons University. |
International Student Fellowship | The purpose of the International Student Fellowship is to create a fellowship of people who are passionate about the international community on the HSU campus. |

Phi Alpha (Sigma Beta) | A local chapter of Phi Alpha National Honor Society, the purpose is to provide a closer bond among students and promote humanitarian goals and ideals, while fostering high standards of education in the social work field. |
Social Work Club | Social Work Club provides opportunities for student development through engagement in campus, community, and professional activities to promote equity and justice for all persons through service, advocacy, and action. |
Pre-Health Club | The HSU Pre-Health Club is an organization dedicated to aiding undergraduate students in their pursuit of a career in the health field. |
Kappa Pi Art Honor Society | The purpose of Kappa Pi is to promote a friendly artistic atmosphere for everyone involved, to encourage one another and to help each other out, and have fun as an organization. |
Pre-PT | The purpose of the Pre-Physical Therapy Club is to provide guidance, support, and education to all collegiate students who wish to pursue physical therapy and occupational therapy careers through subject presentations, demonstrations, guest lectures, and community tours. |
Alpha Phi Omega | It is the VISION of Alpha Phi Omega to be recognized as the premier service-based leadership development organization. It is the MISSION of Alpha Phi Omega to prepare campus and community leaders through service. The VALUES of Alpha Phi Omega are to develop leadership, promote friendship and provide service. The OBJECTIVES of Alpha Phi Omega are Share, Grow, Improve and Invest. |
PACK | PACK is dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer in America as well as supporting nonprofit organizations who lead the fight against pediatric cancer. |
Circle K | Circle K’s vision and purpose is to be the leading global community-service organization on college and university campuses that enriches the world one member, one child and one community at a time. |

HScrU | HScrU highlights the integrity of Hip-Hop through Christ to assimilate our diverse communities faith through dance by providing strength and courage to serve positivity and spiritual enlightenment through movement. |
HGT: Hunters, Gatherers & Travelers | The purpose of this organization shall be to provide a tight-knit and encouraging community that promotes a Christ-like lifestyle while appreciating God’s creation through conservation, travel, and exploration in the context of America’s National Parks and Hardin-Simmons University. |
ESSA | Endangered Species and Shelter Awareness club promotes student fellowship by raising awareness and funds for endangered species and local shelters. |

Cowboy Country (Swing Dancing Club) | HSU Cowboy Country is a club surrounded in communication through dance. We host lessons every Tuesday and Thursday to teach anyone and everyone how to dance. We are a performance-based club that dances and performs for different events on campus. |
We love to help students create organizations that enhance the Hardin-Simmons experience. Once you review the list of current organizations and do not see any that pertain to you, do not hesitate in reaching out to the Student Engagement office to assist you in creating an organization that goes along with your interests. It’s pretty easy process!
Here are the steps in creating a new organization:
- Meet with Corinne Whitaker, Coordinator for Clubs and Organizations, to discuss proposed student organization. Please set up a meeting by emailing corinne.whitaker@400online.net.
- Meet minimum requirements to start an organization:
- 6 people (one president, one vice president, one secretary, one treasurer and two members)
- One advisor (faculty or staff member). *Advisor can only serve in an advisor role for 2 groups maximum.
- Constitution
- Roster
- Fill out Student Organization Application and submit it for review (allow for a two week turn around time).
- Complete Student Organization Advisor Form. Email Corinne Whitaker for form to complete.
- Create constitution (Student Organization Constitution Template) and roster.
- Schedule a meeting with Corinne Whitaker for any questions, concerns or considerations by emailing corinne.whitaker@400online.net. In the email, please include Advisor form, Constitution and roster.
